PCRH Reports and Publications

The Office of Primary Care and Rural Health (PCRH) works to improve access to quality primary, behavioral, and oral healthcare in rural and underserved communities. PCRH is an office of the Utah Department of Health and Human Services and receives funding from federal grants and state appropriations. 2020-2021 Annual Report

The Utah Department of Health (UDOH) Office of Primary Care and Rural Health
(OPCRH) is pleased to report our progress toward accomplishing our mission,
"collaborating with statewide partners to improve access to quality health care in
rural and underserved communities." Despite the challenges presented by the
COVID-19 pandemic, OPCRH responded and made programmatic changes to
improve the efficiency and quality of the programs we administer in support of our

Utah Primary Care Needs Assessment 2021

The purpose of the Primary Care Needs Assessment is to identify the areas of Utah with the greatest unmet primary healthcare needs and determine how those needs will be addressed.

Utah Rural Veteran Needs Assessment 2020

The Rural Health Association of Utah (RHAU), at the direction of the Office of Primary Care and Rural Health (OPCRH), conducted a needs assessment of veterans living in seven (7) rural and frontier counties across central and southern Utah. The purpose of the assessment was to gather information directly from veterans, hospitals and community organizations in rural communities to better understand personal experiences, local resources and barriers that veterans and providers experience in accessing health benefits. This information will be used to improve access to needed healthcare services and to improve the coordination of care for veterans living in rural areas.
